The River Ganga (Ganges) is the most sacred river in Hinduism, and its source at Gaumukh (meaning “Cow’s Mouth”) on the Gangotri Glacier is among the holiest pilgrimage sites in India. Pilgrims and trekkers alike visit Gaumukh to witness the origin of Mother Ganga as she emerges from the glacier. Many devotees take a ritual dip in the icy waters as an act of faith and spiritual purification.

Day 01: Arrive Delhi
Arrival in Delhi, the capital city of India. After check-in, the rest of the day
is free to relax or explore nearby local markets and surroundings at leisure.
Overnight stay in Delhi.
Day 02: Delhi – Haridwar (approx. 225 km)
Drive to Haridwar, one of the seven holiest cities of Hinduism, located on the
banks of the River Ganga at the foothills of the Shivalik range. Later, visit
Mansa Devi Temple via ropeway and experience the spiritually uplifting Ganga
Aarti at Har Ki Pauri, a sacred ghat believed to have been built by King
Vikramaditya. Overnight stay in Haridwar.
Day 03: Haridwar – Uttarkashi (approx. 170 km | 1,158 m)
Drive along the Bhagirathi River valley to Uttarkashi, an important pilgrimage
town. In the evening, visit the ancient Vishwanath Temple dedicated to Lord
Shiva, believed to have origins dating back several centuries. Overnight stay in
Uttarkashi.
Day 04: Uttarkashi – Gangotri (approx. 100 km | 3,048 m)
Proceed towards Gangotri through scenic mountain roads. En route, cross the
dramatic Bhairon Ghati gorge. Visit the Gangotri Temple, originally built in the
18th century, and attend the evening prayer ceremony by the Bhagirathi River.
Overnight stay in Gangotri.
Day 05: Gangotri – Bhojwasa (14 km trek | 3,792 m)
Begin trekking along a well-marked trail via Chirbasa, located at the tree line.
Enjoy clear views of Bhagirathi peaks as the landscape becomes increasingly
rugged and alpine. Reach Bhojwasa, situated close to the Gangotri Glacier, and
spend the evening amidst pristine mountain surroundings.
Day 06: Bhojwasa – Gaumukh – Tapovan
Trek to Gaumukh, the snout of the Gangotri Glacier and the origin of the River
Ganga. After spending time at this sacred site, carefully cross the glacier and
climb steeply to Tapovan, a high-altitude meadow offering stunning views of
Shivling, Meru, and the Bhagirathi massif. Rest and acclimatize at Tapovan.
Day 07: Tapovan – Nandanvan (6 km trek | 4,337 m)
Cross the Gangotri Glacier once again to reach Nandanvan, a vast alpine meadow
nestled below the Bhagirathi peaks. The area is known for its dramatic mountain
scenery and serene natural setting. Overnight stay at Nandanvan.
Day 08: Nandanvan – Bhojwasa (12 km trek)
Retrace the route back across the glacier to Bhojwasa. The return trek offers
alternate perspectives of the glacier and surrounding peaks. Overnight stay at
Bhojwasa.
Day 09: Bhojwasa – Gangotri (14 km trek)
Trek back along the Bhagirathi River to Gangotri. The remainder of the day is free
to relax or revisit the temple area. Overnight stay in Gangotri.
Day 10: Gangotri – Rishikesh (approx. 245 km)
Drive to Rishikesh, a globally renowned spiritual center known for yoga,
meditation, and its numerous ashrams and temples. The town is also set amidst
lush forests along the banks of the River Ganga, creating a tranquil and sacred
atmosphere. Overnight stay in Rishikesh.
Day 11: Rishikesh – Delhi (approx. 250 km)
Visit key landmarks such as Laxman Jhula, Ram Jhula, and Geeta Bhawan. Later,
proceed towards Delhi. Tour concludes with fond memories of the Garhwal
Himalayas.
